Hamtaro: Rainbow Rescue / Tottoko Hamtaro 4: Nijiiro Daikoushin Dechu (とっとこハム太郎4 にじいろ大行進でちゅ) is the 2nd Hamtaro game released for the Game Boy Advance. It was developed by AlphaDream, published by Nintendo, and received limited distribution in Europe, while it was cancelled altogether in North America. Because of this, physical copies of the game are somewhat rare. The game is an adventure game, in which the player explores, solves puzzles, and plays mini-games. The objective is to help a hamster named Bo gather ingredients to make a rainbow, so that he can go home to Rainbow Land.
Europe ------: October 29, 2004
North America: cancelled
The sections below describe the game's story and events, and contain spoilers.
The game starts with Bijou, Hamtaro, and Oxnard looking at a rainbow together at Sunny Peak. The rainbow fades, and Bo, who was crossing the rainbow, suddenly falls out of the sky and lands on Boss, knocking both unconscious. The Ham-Hams then take Bo and Boss to the Clubhouse, to recover. When Bo wakes up, he explains that he's the big star of a place called Rainbow Land, and that he can make a rainbow that takes them there with his umbrella. But when he tries, he finds out his umbrella is broken: the colors are gone! The Ham-Hams agree to help Bo, and set out to look for seven colored ingredients to fix the umbrella, so that Bo can go home.

After the credit roll, the Ham-Hams follow Bo into Rainbow Land, to discover he is actually the prince of Rainbow Land! There's also a new problem: Rainbow Land hasn't had any visitors while Bo was gone. Bo asks the Ham-Hams to hand out 40 invites to special characters across the map, including some in new areas. --- If you get stuck, talk to Snoozer in the Clubhouse to receive a hint on what to do next.
--- If a Ham Game is too hard to beat, you can skip it with a walnut. You find the first one in Flower Ranch, and after that you can get more by talking to Jingle on the Lawn outside the Clubhouse.
--- Pick all carrots you see - they'll be useful later.
To erase game data, start up the game, and pick "New" from the menu. Then pick "Yep-P" to confirm you want to erase the current save data. This allows you to replay the game from the beginning, and re-collect all collectibles.
There are 30 pictures to collect in the game. They can be bought from stores, received from other hamsters, or found on the overworld. They're coloring pages, that can be colored in and viewed from the top menu or in-game menu.

Tasks are mini-mini-games encountered in the overworld. Each one can only be done by a specific Ham-Ham, and are sometimes required to progress, explore, or obtain collectibles. A ☀ will appear over the Ham-Ham's head when there's a task they can do. Tasks reward 20 sunflower points, one 1★ sticker, and occasionally seeds.
Ham Games are mini-games encountered throughout the game. Many of them are required to progress through the story, to explore new areas, or to obtain collectibles. Ham Games are indicated by signboards across the map, which contain a little bit of information on the game before you jump in. Most Ham Games can only be done by one specific Ham-Ham, and require you to have them in your party to play it.
