The Missus was born a cross between an Eurasier and a Keeshond. Her original owners had intended for her to become a show dog, but she's not especially smart or driven, and doesn't really like strangers or most other dogs, which sort of led to their plans for her falling through. She's happiest when she's at home without anyone to bother her. My Mom, who doesn't do dog shows and is also happiest at home without anyone to bother her, adopted her through a dog rehoming group when she (the dog, not my Mom) was about 1½.

Nowadays, she enjoys being a spoiled princess and barking whenever she hears the neighbours. She's food-motivated, but becomes exponentially less smart the closer she is in proximity to food, which makes it hard to teach her anything (though my Mom does try). She knows me ("Kiddo") by name, and she sometimes also knows me by name when there's a snack in front of her nose. She's not good at entertaining herself and doesn't really grasp the concept of fetch - she enjoys the part where you throw something for her to chase, but she's lost on the notion of bringing it back so you can do it again. When she wants attention, she'll let you know by hitting you in the face with her paws. She eats more decadently and varied than most human people I know (and if this describes you, consider this your sign to upgrade from "girl dinner" - you are currently losing to my Mom's dog).
